Abstract

This paper presents an IoT-based smart blind guidance system designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating their surroundings more safely and efficiently. The system integrates various sensors, including ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection, a GPS module for real-time location tracking, and an accelerometer for fall detection. Data collected from these sensors are processed locally and then transmitted to a cloud platform via Wi-Fi. A mobile application provides audio feedback to the user, guiding them with directions, obstacle warnings, and points of interest. Furthermore, the system includes an emergency alert feature that automatically notifies predefined contacts in case of a fall or an emergency button press. The novelty of this system lies in its comprehensive integration of multiple sensor technologies with cloud-based data processing and a user-friendly mobile interface, offering a robust and reliable navigation aid for the visually impaired. Experimental results demonstrate the system's effectiveness in accurately detecting obstacles, providing precise navigation, and enhancing the overall safety of visually impaired users.
